I taught myself to code. no degree in it, no bootcamp. I just started messing around with HTML back in 2011, when Bitcoin was still a dollar and nobody thought much of either.
From there I just kept going. I'd try whatever I could get my hands on, build something, break it, throw it out, and start over. HTML turned into PHP, PHP turned into WordPress, and after enough of that I wasn't really "learning" anymore: if I could understand a piece of software, I could make it do what I wanted.
That's how I got my first job at IAP as a WordPress developer. Three months later they made me Lead Software Developer.
My path looks all over the place on paper. I did accounting from 2014 to 2016, started a civil engineering degree in 2014 and dropped it in 2018. But code was always the thing underneath it all. Everything else I just tried for a while. Software is the one that stuck.
And I still work the same way I did at the start. Give me something new and I'll figure it out. That part never changed.
